Consultation on Forest Resources Regulations

Background

Proposed Forest Resources Regulations were designed to enable the development of a viable forest sector that is sustainable and appropriate in size and scale for Yukon. They are also designed to ensure that forest planning occurs prior to the harvesting of forest resources.

The Department of Energy, Mines and Resources’ Forest Management Branch has worked with the Successor Resources Legislation Working Group, the Forest Values and Forest Industry Focus Groups on developing the concepts for the proposed Forest Resources Regulations.

Eight proposed regulation documents which outline administrative and operational issues within the Forest Resources Act  230 KB were provided for public input for 90 days from July 31 through October 30, 2009. They were:
