Alaska Highway West local area plan

The Government of Yukon and Champagne and Aishihik First Nations have commenced a cooperative local area planning process for an area along the Alaska Highway from Ibex Valley towards Haines Junction. The plan will be developed with the assistance of a Steering Committee made up of area residents and First Nation citizens.

Call for Expressions of Interest

We are seeking individuals interested in serving as the Yukon government nominees on the Steering Committee that will assist in developing a draft local plan. The committee will include three members appointed by the Yukon government, and three members appointed by the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations. 

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • an interest in public planning processes and future use of the area;
  • a familiarity with the land use issues and interests in the area;
  • an ability to represent the larger interests of the community in a fair, objective and equitable manner; and
  • a willingness to make time to participate in the 2-year planning process.
