Alaska Highway West Local Area Plan

The Yukon government and Champagne and Aishihik First Nations are beginning the process of a cooperative local area plan for an area along the Alaska Highway from Ibex Valley towards Haines Junction.

Local area plans are policy documents that guide land use and development in a particular area. They are developed with the assistance of a Steering Committee consisting of people who are familiar with the planning area.

For more information contact Roy Neilson, Land Use Planner, at roy.neilson@gov.yk.ca, 667-3531, or toll-free at 1-800-661-0408 ext. 3531.

 The Land Planning branch assists communities located outside of municipalities with:

  • developing community plans and zoning regulations;
  • processing rezoning applications;
  • processing subdivision applications; and,
  • processing discretionary use permits.

In addition, we have community maps and maps showing portions of roads & highways.
