Dawson Regional Land Use Plan

Interests and Issues Report released

In December 2011, the Dawson Regional Land Use Planning Commission released its Interests and Issues Report, which is a record and summary of all the submissions they received.

In the report, the Commission recognizes four key themes that will be addressed in the regional land use plan:

  • Mineral Exploration and Mining 
  • Conservation of Fish and Wildlife Habitat
  • Defining a “Workable Balance” for Sustainable Development
  • Land Use Conflict within the Yukon River Corridor

The Yukon government will continue to provide input at key points in the planning process. The government provides technical information through its representative on the Technical Working Group. This group includes the Commission’s land use planner, a representative of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Government, and a staff member of the Yukon Land Use Planning Council.

The Dawson Regional Land Use Planning Commission operates in accordance with Chapter 11 of the Yukon First Nation Final Agreements and with its Terms of Reference   653 KB
