Zoning Areas

Hamlet of Mount Lorne

The Mt. Lorne area consists of the region south of Whitehorse along the South Klondike Highway, also known as the Carcross Road. The Mt. Lorne Local Area Plan  8.5 MB has been in place since 1995. Recently, area development regulations were completed and approved for the area. Due to the age of the plan, the Yukon government is working with the Hamlet council to update the plan in several key areas, namely conservation of caribou habitat and on residential development policies.

Amendment to the Mount Lorne development regulations
March 2014

This amendment, effective March 10, 2014, allows rural residential property owners with lots larger than four hectares to apply to subdivide out a one-time only two hectare lot. Two dwellings will be allowed on lots greater than two hectares in size. In addition, agricultural home-site subdivision is now permitted – consistent with what is allowed in other development areas in accordance with the 2006 Agricultural Policy.
