  2. Find journals and magazines

    The Energy Mines and Resources Library subscribes to scientific journals in the areas of:

    • environmental studies;
    • geoscience;
    • natural resources;
    • planning, policy and public administration; and
    • more.

    The public is welcome to come to the library to read magazines and journals or search for articles.

  3. Browse online databases

    The library subscribes to online geoscience databases that you can use for natural resources related research.

    You can access these databases from the computers at the Energy, Mines and Resources Library.
    In person: Room 335, Elijah Smith Building, 300 Main Street in Whitehorse. We are open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    What databases are available?

    GeoRef and GeoScienceWorld

    Allows you to search geoscience literature citations from 1785 to the present and access nearly 50 full-text journals on the topics of:

    • commodities;
    • elements and isotopes;
    • fossils;
    • geochronology;
    • geography;
    • rocks and minerals;
    • sediments; and
    • soils.

  4. Borrow natural resources books and articles from libraries outside of Yukon

    If you are looking for a book or scientific article that you can’t find in the Energy, Mines and Resources Library, you can ask us for an interlibrary loan. We will request the item you need from a library outside of Yukon. You can then borrow it from us just like other library books or journals.

    You can request an interlibrary loan in 3 ways:

    • In person: Room 335, 300 Main Street, Whitehorse. The library is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    This service is free of charge. Requests must be for research-related material and are limited to 10 per month.
