Mining in Yukon

Quarrying and Dredging

Brewery Creek Dredging and quarrying are regulated under the Territorial Lands Act 207 KB. The Mineral Resources branch regulates dredging; quarrying is regulated by the Lands branch. Environmental assessment for these activities is conducted by the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board.

The Lands Branch within the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources administers quarrying activities.

Mirror Legislation - Existing federal acts and regulations have been "mirrored" into territorial acts and regulations effective April 1, 2003. As a result, territorial institutions are substituted for federal institutions. These acts and regulations will be used until the Yukon government develops and implements new legislation.
