Yukon contains eight distinct sedimentary basins (see map
493 KB) with potential to host oil and gas deposits. Each basin has its own unique geological history and character.
The National Energy Board and the Geological Survey of Canada have undertaken studies of the petroleum resources of all Yukon basins in cooperation with the Yukon government. Each resource assessment undergoes periodic re-interpretation.
