Regional Land Use Planning

The Regional Land Use Planning section works with First Nations, Yukon communities and interested parties to fulfill Yukon government obligations for regional land use planning as described for in chapter 11 of the Umbrella Final Agreement and First Nation Final Settlement Agreements.  This includes;

  • Working with the Yukon Land Use Planning Council and First Nation governments to establish Regional Land Use Planning Commissions.
  • Providing information from participating YG departments to the Regional Land Use Planning Commissions to support the planning process.
  • Coordinating Yukon government responses and input into the preparation of regional land use plans.
  • Collaborating with First Nations, to manage the review of, consultation on and approval process for final plans;
  • Working with First Nations to coordinate the implementation, monitoring and review of approved regional land use planning goals, strategies and recommendations.
