What's New

The Yukon Government together with other provinces, territories and the federal government have been delivering support programs to the agriculture industry under the national Agriculture Policy Framework (APF) since April 2003. The current agreement is scheduled to end in March 2008 and new programs are needed to address changes with the agriculture industry. To find out more about the policy and public consultation on the Next Generation of Agriculture and Agri-Food Policy, please read the section below.

Next Generation of Agriculture and Agri-Food Policy
Public consultations are taking place in January and February 2007, Canadians will have the opportunity to provide input and advice on how to best ensure a competitive and profitable Canadian agriculture and agri-food sector that provides safe, innovative and high quality products and services.

Les Canadiens auront l'occasion de faire des commentaires et de donner leur avis sur la meilleure façon d'assurer un secteur agicole et agroalimentaire canadien compétitif et rentable qui fournisse des produits et des services sûr, innovateurs et de haute qualité.

To participate in this national consultation, visit the national web site (in English or French language). From the left side menu, choose the Online Consultation option, available from January 22 to March 5. Once this option has been chosen, participants have the choice of submitting their views electronically or by printing paper versions (again from the left menu) and mailing their comments to Agriculture Canada at the Ottawa address provided for this option.

Yukoners can view the consultation documents online at the national website (left menu) or request a printed copy of the consultation documents in French or English by calling Yukon Agriculture at 667-5838 or toll-free from outside of Whitehorse at 1-800-661-0408 ext. 5838.

Agriculture Tenure Spatial Data
Agriculture Branch spatial data is housed on the Yukon Spatial Data Clearinghouse, hosted by Geomatics Yukon. This data is saved in shapefile (.shp) format and includes only land managed by the Government of Yukon, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources Agriculture Branch. Please note that this is NOT a map. It is spatial data only and requires ArcView, ArcExplorer or other GIS software to open and view. Surveyed, fee simple land is not included.
