It has been over ten years since rich diamond deposits were discovered in Canada near the Lac De Gras area, Northwest Territories. Over the past ten years, it has become more and more evident that kimberlite and lamproite are not the only host rocks for diamond. There have been numerous anecdotal accounts of discoveries of kimberlite, lamproite, diamond, diamond indicator minerals and interesting geophysical anomalies in the Yukon. The overall objective of this project is to provide easily accessible information on reports of diamond and diamond host rock occurrences in the Yukon and in those areas of Alaska, NWT and northern B.C. that border the Yukon.
